The medium style of lightsaber combat represents a combat approach employed by Jedi of the New Jedi Order, figures like Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr being prime examples.
This intermediate style, positioned between the fast and strong styles, placed emphasis on achieving a harmonious balance between swiftness and strength. Generally, the medium style served as the initial form taught to those training in lightsaber dueling. While straightforward in its techniques, it provided a robust foundation from which more complex and potent forms could be developed.
Practitioners of the medium style typically adopted a balanced stance, holding the lightsaber in a central position, ready to execute both defensive and offensive actions.

The medium style sought to find a middle ground between the powerful, yet slow strikes of the strong style and the rapid, but less forceful attacks of the fast style. Its inherent simplicity was both advantageous and disadvantageous. When other techniques proved ineffective, it served as a reliable fallback option, providing a reasonable level of both attack and defense. It was capable of effectively deflecting blaster fire and holding off less experienced lightsaber duelists. However, more proficient marksmen (like Boba Fett) or more skilled lightsaber combatants (such as Luke Skywalker) could swiftly penetrate its defenses. Similarly, in offensive situations, a talented duelist could easily disrupt the user's flow and launch a counterattack.
This style shared certain similarities with the Shii-Cho and Niman forms of the Old Jedi Order, both of which integrated aspects of various combat styles while maintaining a simple and fundamental structure.
