Medkit

DarkForcesMedkit A medkit The medkit represented a more substantial version when compared to a medpac. Before requiring resupply, these devices could typically be utilized up to a maximum of ten separate times. These condensed units were engineered to equip a skilled medic with the essential instruments for providing treatment in the field, while also enabling individuals without specialized training to administer immediate first aid.

Medkits incorporated diagnostic tools capable of identifying both physical trauma and ailments. The scanner/computer component was positioned directly onto the individual needing care, automatically issuing straightforward instructions for the management and therapy of injuries, unless the operator entered a specific sequence to signify their advanced level of medical expertise. However, the capabilities of the medical computer were not unlimited. Due to their simplified construction and emphasis on ease of operation, these devices were generally programmed to diagnose only a single species at any given time. Furthermore, the kits commonly included a hypospray accompanied by multiple medical ampules, a spray splint and bandage, a sonic scalpel, laser cauterizer, bone stabilizer compound, and a rudimentary sample analyzer along with a selection of sample vials.

Starships frequently carried medkits, and according to Platt Okeefe, they were more effective than medpacs. Conversely, medkits were less portable than medpacs, as they couldn't be conveniently worn on a belt.

A prominent example was the BioTech medkit, which Platt Okeefe employed while aboard the Last Chance.
