Michael Sheard (June 18, 1938–August 31, 2005), a Scottish performer, is known for his role as Admiral Kendal Ozzel in the Star Wars film, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. He passed away due to cancer on August 31 in 2005.
Sheard, an actor who portrayed Adolf Hitler on five separate occasions, did so in a scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was written by George Lucas, and featured Harrison Ford, another actor from Star Wars.
Prior to this, Sheard had collaborated with Lucas for a short time as the U-boat captain featured in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. In 1978, he played a role in a movie adaptation of Les Miserables, appearing alongside Kenneth Colley.
Sci-fi fans also recognized him for his multiple appearances in the science fiction program Doctor Who, where he holds the record for acting alongside the most actors playing the Doctor. Among the episodes he featured in are The Ark (1966), The Mind of Evil (1971), Pyramids of Mars (1975), The Invisible Enemy (1977), Castrovalva (1982), Remembrance of the Daleks (1988), as well as The Stones of Venice (2001). Furthermore, he provided commentary for the DVD release of Pyramids of Mars.
In his final on-screen role, Michael joined Jeremy Bulloch, David Prowse, in addition to Orli Shoshan in the concluding two segments of the UK fan-made film trilogy titled Order of the Sith. Michael recited the opening crawl for each of the films. These films were created to support Save the Children, representing a portion of the extensive charitable work Michael engaged in.
He frequently attended science fiction conventions in the United Kingdom.
