Mico Haswell was a researcher employed by the Lerct Historical Institute; he was a male Human. In the year 21 ABY, Haswell joined an investigative trip to Yoturba. It was during this trip that he discovered a Kyber crystal that had been corrupted by the Dark side of the Force. This corrupted crystal, sensing his feelings of being undervalued and his perceived lack of authority within the Institute, manipulated him, causing him to assault his fellow researcher, Kirs.
Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who happened to be at the excavation site, tried to intervene. Instead of stopping Haswell immediately, they experienced a shared vision of the hidden Sith planet Exegol. Within the vision, Haswell exhibited strange, non-human movements, grew sharp teeth, displayed reptilian traits, and tried to attack Skywalker. This vision ended abruptly, and Skywalker used the Force to suspend Haswell in the air. He then summoned a group of medics to subdue Haswell with sedatives. Despite receiving a significant dose, Haswell remained awake, though free from the dark side's control. Skywalker questioned Haswell about his experience, but Haswell's memory was fragmented. He could only recall seeing a desolate, ancient planet filled with lightning and sensing a shadowy, intelligent presence. Following this, Haswell lost consciousness completely. Skywalker instructed the medics to transport him to Hosnian Prime for observation.
