A mineral was a naturally occurring compound that created an ore-like material. The Rockrenders native to the planet Sullust included minerals in what they ate. Minerals were abundant on the frozen world called Starkiller Base. Yavin 4 was unattractive to the Galactic Empire because it lacked any noteworthy mineral deposits.
