Mission at Alzoc III (Empire Reborn)

The conflict known as the Mission at Alzoc III transpired during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Following an unsubstantiated report regarding an Imperial facility located on Alzoc III, Mon Mothma dispatched Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors on an assignment aimed at verifying the presence of Imperial forces. Her instructions specified that the pair should infiltrate the base by disguising themselves as cargo transporters. Piloting the Raven's Claw, Ors executed a flyover of a designated landing area, during which she deposited Katarn concealed within a supply container, subsequently maneuvering the craft into one of the aircraft hangars. There, she initiated the deployment of a device of undisclosed function. Katarn successfully navigated the landing area's security protocols, gaining access to a room with windows situated on the uppermost level, where he eliminated a commanding officer and utilized a security key to gain entry to the shield control room.

Within one of the hangars, Ors was apprehended by a contingent of stormtroopers, who held her captive at gunpoint. She implored Katarn to expedite his progress. Initially, he was compelled to shut down the generator located within the shield control room, thereby disabling any force field barriers impeding her access to Katarn. Upon reaching the top story, an additional force field obstructed entry to the hangar zone. He circumvented this obstacle by employing a mind trick on the officer stationed in the security booth, compelling him to grant authorization, before subsequently dispatching him.

The final impediment barring access to the Raven's Claw's hangar consisted of a security portal defended by a pair of Reborns. Following a brief confrontation involving lightsabers, culminating in the demise of the Reborns, another Reborn descended from the elevated walkway. Subsequent to the latter's elimination, a squad of stormtroopers emerged from the security portal, all of whom were neutralized.

Katarn proceeded into the hangar, where he discovered an officer brandishing a blaster pointed at Ors' back. However, his attention was momentarily diverted by Katarn, affording Ors the opportunity to overpower him. They executed a swift departure from the hangar just prior to the arrival of a substantial contingent of reinforcements.

Behind the scenes

This particular mission served as the original demonstration for the Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast game, applicable to both console and PC platforms. It was subsequently incorporated into the final iteration of the game as a bonus level exclusively for console platforms such as Xbox and Nintendo GameCube. The audio assets utilized within this level, encompassing scripted dialogue, are derived from various junctures within the complete game. On easier difficulty settings, only one Reborn appears at the level's conclusion.

The precise chronological placement of the demo, in relation to the comprehensive game narrative, remains undetermined within established canon (with both scenarios indicating a period of eight years following the Endor conflict in their introductory sequences); nevertheless, given Katarn's possession of his lightsaber during the demo, it has been positioned subsequent to the events of the full game, during which he reclaims his lightsaber. However, the player's access to Force abilities is restricted within this level, potentially attributable to its status as a demonstration.

Despite the aforementioned designation of this bonus mission as a demo, Kyle Katarn would, from a chronological perspective, hold the rank of Jedi Master at this juncture.

In the event of the player's demise at the hands of a Reborn, the latter may proclaim that "Master Desann will be pleased." Considering the intended placement of the level following the conclusion of the full game, this occurrence represents either a dialogue oversight or an indication that the two Reborns remain unaware of Desann's demise.
