A directive was issued to Arlo Tyre and Wadie Firestone by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 0 ABY: they were to embark on a mission to Alashan to determine the cause of the communications blackout with the Alliance's archaeological outpost on that planet.
Charged by the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Arlo Tyre and Wadie Firestone journeyed to Alashan, a planet, to investigate the radio silence from their archaeological station. Upon their arrival, they discovered that all the habitation domes had been destroyed, bursting outward. As Arlo and Wadie began their approach towards the central habitat dome, Arlo was abruptly struck down and killed by an unidentified assailant. Wadie, in response, made a desperate dash for his Y-wing fighter. Reaching his starfighter, he initiated the power systems and ascended rapidly, only to be blasted from the sky by the same mysterious force that had claimed Arlo's life.
Following the loss of contact with Arlo and Wadie, Alliance Command dispatched a new team to investigate their fate: Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Mici Shabandar, accompanied by the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO.
