Alashan existed as a planet situated on the edge of Wild Space within the galaxy.
This world was the home of an culture, and this culture experienced significant technological progress during the Pre-Republic era. They constructed an underground city, and the planet's inhabitants prospered within this fully operational city, safeguarded by the Guardian. Despite their advancements, this civilization ultimately met its end. At some point, the Alashans sealed the city from the exterior and disappeared entirely from historical accounts.
Over the subsequent millennia, the world faded into obscurity, remaining untouched by the wider galaxy until an archaeological expedition dispatched by the Alliance to Restore the Republic arrived. Later in that year, following the crash of the Staraker on the planet's surface, a Star Destroyer belonging to the Galactic Empire arrived and landed. Major Wil'm Grau commanded the Imperials, who, along with captured Rebels such as Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, explored the planet, discovering the abandoned archaeological site and the forgotten city known as Forever. After a battle with the Guardian within the deserted city, the surviving members of the team escaped the planet, and the city sealed itself once more after they left.
The planet remained isolated from all galactic affairs, residing within territory controlled by Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire as of 137 ABY.
