Four Jedi—specifically, Jedi Masters Indara and Kelnacca, along with Jedi Knight Sol, and the Padawan named Torbin—embarked on a quest to the planet of Brendok during the year 148 BBY.
The reason for their journey was to determine the source of life on the planet. Sol encountered three witches in the forest and shadowed them back to their dwelling. Upon infiltrating their home, he observed the witches training younglings. Consequently, he persuaded the Jedi to intervene during their ceremony, requesting to evaluate the children for potential Jedi recruitment. Following the assessment, the witches found themselves at odds regarding their next course of action. The Jedi, concerned for the safety of the younglings and pursuing Torbin, who had disobeyed orders, then intervened.
Fueled by anger over her sister's aspiration to become a Jedi, Mae inadvertently ignited a fire that rapidly consumed the compound. Conflict erupted when Aniseya employed a Force ability that the Jedi misinterpreted as hostile, leading Sol to fatally wound her. As archers targeted Torbin, Koril engaged Sol in combat before vanishing through magic. The remaining members of the coven retreated and manipulated Kelnacca's mind, compelling him to attempt to eliminate the other Jedi. However, Master Indara utilized the Force to suppress their mental assault, the resulting backlash from the shattered mind-control proving fatal to nearly all the witches. Sol attempted to rescue both twins, but his power was only sufficient to save Osha. In the aftermath of the conflict, the Jedi reached a consensus to present a selective account of the events, omitting any details that might cast them in a negative light or jeopardize Osha's prospects of becoming a Jedi Knight.
