The Hurikane Mission refers to an assignment that Padawan Mace Windu undertook in 58 BBY.
As Mace Windu reached the age of fourteen, the Jedi High Council became more and more anxious about Windu's progress. Despite his excellent performance in his studies, he still hadn't been able to build the lightsaber that he had seen in his visions. He told the Council that he needed a challenge to locate the ideal components for his lightsaber. Consequently, the Council chose to dispatch Windu alone to the planet Hurikane.
Upon Windu's initial arrival on Hurikane, the Padawan was driven away by the planet's indigenous species, but he was able to fend them off with ease using the Force. When he accidentally caused one of the delicate locals to break, he became serious and meticulously repaired it using a type of healing. Because he healed the native, the Hurikaneans presented him with a violet crystal as a gift.
Padawan Windu used the crystal to create the lightsaber from his visions, which resulted in a unique violet blade.
