The quest known as the Mission to Maramere saw Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his recently Knighted one-time padawan, Anakin Skywalker, embark on a journey to ascertain if Asajj Ventress was still among the living.
While on leave, Obi-Wan Kenobi pursued clues related to Asajj Ventress – who was believed to have perished during the Battle of Rendili – on Trigalis, a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories. It was there that he crossed paths with fellow Jedi Aayla Secura, who told him that a Black Sun vigo, named Xist, potentially had details about Ventress. Kenobi infiltrated Xist's fortress and successfully obtained the information he sought. Xist instructed Kenobi to go to Drama Korr's space yacht within the Karthakk system. Kenobi journeyed to Naboo aboard Aayla's Eta-2 starfighter to retrieve Anakin Skywalker. He located his former learner at Padmé Amidala's Varykino retreat and persuaded the young Jedi Knight to accompany him on the mission.
Upon their arrival in the Karthakk system, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan discovered battle droids swarming the space yacht, with all those on board deceased. Subsequently, the two Jedi encountered the bounty hunter Durge, leading to their separation. Anakin triumphed over Durge by using the Force to propel him in an escape pod towards Karthakk, the nearby sun.
Following the space yacht's explosion, the two Jedi managed to escape and were rescued by Bail Organa aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer named Intervention. Utilizing data extracted from Durge's pilot droid, they then set a course for Boz Pity.
