Mobile bacta units functioned as a portable version of the bacta tank, designed to be carried like a backpack. They featured an attached hose for dispensing bacta via spraying. During the Galactic Empire's reign, the Sith Lord Darth Vader outfitted range troopers from the Galactic Empire's range corps with these mobile bacta units. These troopers were then sent to the planet [Uokara] (/article/uokara) in the Unknown Regions. On Uokara, the troopers utilized the units to saturate the planet's surfaces, aiming to eradicate the Ghymnon pathogen that blanketed the entire world from sea to sea. Large, hovering bacta tanks also contributed by dispensing bacta into the planet's waters.
The mobile bacta units were first seen in "The Inhabitant." This story was penned by Steve Orlando, with illustrations by Paul Davidson. It was released within the pages of the comic book Darth Vader – Black, White & Red 4 on July 26, 2023.
