Modular passenger compartments were self-contained units built to carry people on cargo starships. These modules were designed to be easily attached to the structural frames of cargo vessels, enabling them to be quickly transformed into passenger carriers. With their own life support systems, internal power sources, and even personal hyperspace field emitters, they were mostly independent. Following the Great Hyperspace Disaster, many passengers who survived the destruction of the freighter Legacy Run were saved from these very compartments.
