This is the gateway to the Mount Meru Mine. The Mount Meru Mine was a mining operation situated deep within Mount Meru on the world of Drogheda. During the year 4 ABY, a group of revolutionary fighters seized control of the mine. Their goal was to compel the current Queen, Sarna, to concede to their demands for the establishment of a democratic system of governance. Given that the mine represented a substantial revenue stream for the elite, Queen Sarna was compelled to seek external assistance to dislodge the revolutionaries from their hold on the mine. Ultimately, Rebel Alliance figure Lando Calrissian assisted Sarna in evicting the revolutionaries through the destruction of several water reservoirs located far inside the tunnel system. The resulting flood inundated the mine, carrying Calrissian and the rebels out. Government troops then opened fire on the escaping rebels who had managed to survive the deluge.
