The Murachaun were sentient reptilian beings, a species that originated from Nahsu Minor within the Ktilac Regions. Their sentience was a defining characteristic.
The Murachaun, in conjunction with the Tocoyans and the Ktilac themselves, established a shared culture and a form of quasi-religious belief system within the Ktilac Regions. They perceived each species as integral and complementary to the others, viewing the rest of the galaxy as impure. Murachaun individuals found outside the Ktilac Regions were considered heretics, having been banished from their homeland.
Known for their industrious nature, the Murachaun were generally regarded as diligent, organized, and sociable individuals.
Originating from Nahsu Minor, a planet situated in the Mid Rim near the Perlemian Trade Route, the Murachaun encountered the inhabitants of Ktil and Tocoya. This interaction ultimately led to the formation of the Ktilac Regions, a confederation with the three species at its core. Each of the Ktilac, Tocoyans, and Murachaun governed sixty-three star systems.
The Ktilac Regions became one of the Allied Regions within the Old Republic, under the nominal governance of a Moff. The Murachaun's initial contact with Old Republic scouts occurred shortly before the Clone Wars. Subsequently, they were among the many species subjected to enslavement by the Empire. Refusing to yield to the Imperial presence on their planet, the Murachaun engaged in covert acts of resistance against their oppressors.
During the eras of the New Republic and the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, the Ktilac Regions maintained their status as an Allied Region.
Kufra Ahara was a member of the Murachaun species.
