Murra, a tauntaun of the female variety, served among the tauntauns employed by the Rebel Alliance stationed on the planet Hoth. In the period preceding the Battle of Hoth, Han Solo rode Murra as he looked for Luke Skywalker. She was the mother of Riba, who had been selected as Skywalker's mount; Murra's intention was to locate her daughter and provide her with warmth. Unbeknownst to Murra, a wampa had killed Riba and subsequently abducted Skywalker. Murra succumbed to the frigid temperatures, and Solo, in turn, used her remains as a source of warmth for Skywalker.
