The Muskegs were a group of Gungans from Naboo known for their religious extremism and acts of violence. They opposed the Naboo people, championing the belief that Naboo should only be inhabited by Gungans.
In the year 1 ABY, they attempted to enlist Hunnos Jarkey, a wanted murderer, in a plot to assassinate members of the Naboo human government, but he declined. Subsequently, Lieutenant Khartoor of the Violent Crimes Division directed RSF agents to investigate a group of Muskeg fanatics led by Dubbin Sharr in the vicinity of Theed.
Later, Boss Rugor Nass dispatched a spacer to retrieve a Gungan artifact that the Muskegs had stolen. The spacer engaged in combat with several Muskeg anarchists, extremists, and reactionaries within the Lasay Swamp. Ultimately, the spacer recovered the artifact from Flossin Noz, who was a Muskeg zealot leader.
The Muskegs made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The Muskegs were integrated into the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" feature with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
