The Musson system existed within the Karthakk sector, itself a part of the Trailing Sectors region of the Outer Rim Territories. In 7 ABY, the Quarren pirate named Jerresk and his accomplices perpetrated a successful assault on a New Republic supply ship en route to the Musson system. During that year, the system appeared in the datafile Wanted by Cracken focused on Jerresk, as recorded by New Republic general Airen Cracken. The Savareen sector's Fordon system was also noted in the entry as Jerresk's most recent whereabouts after the attack.
The 1993 Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Wanted by Cracken, authored by Louis J. Prosperi for West End Games, marked the initial mention of the Musson system. It was located in grid square Q-16 by The Essential Atlas reference book in 2009.
