Nakha Urus, a male Dug, held the position of Doge on Malastare during the era of the Clone Wars. He awaited the arrival of his fellow councilors to finalize an agreement between the Republic and the Dug people when the Zillo Beast launched its assault. Upon identifying the creature, he sought out an ancient scroll, passed down through generations, which foretold the Zillo Beast's return as a harbinger of their extinction.
During the events of the Battle of Malastare, Urus initially supported the deployment of the Electro-proton bomb. However, this changed upon the realization that it had awakened the last Zillo Beast, a prospect that instilled great fear within the Dug population. He intended to kill the awakened creature, but Jedi Master Mace Windu voiced his opposition, arguing that the Zillo Beast, being the last of its kind, should be preserved. In response, Urus threatened to withhold his signature from the treaty that would grant the Republic access to his planet's valuable fuel reserves. Urus and his fellow council members consulted a historical manuscript and discovered that the Zillo Beast was vulnerable to the planet's fuel. However, their attempt to eliminate the beast with the fuel only served to enrage it, causing it to escape the sinkhole and unleash chaos upon Malastare. Ultimately, he welcomed the Jedi's intervention in subduing the creature, unaware that it was merely rendered unconscious, allowing the Chancellor to study it on Coruscant. With the Zillo Beast subdued, Urus and the other council members proceeded to sign the treaty.
Nakha Urus, a male Dug, stood at a height of 1.12 meters (3 feet, 8 inches), characterized by brown eyes and brown skin. He deeply valued his people and the ecological well-being of Malastare. This concern led to his initial hesitation regarding the use of the bomb, fearing its potential harm to both. Urus was prepared to grant the Galactic Republic access to Malastare's fuel resources, but only under the condition that the Republic would assist the Dugs in addressing threats, leading him to initially deny the Republic access to the fuel due to the Zillo Beast threat.
Urus demonstrated his leadership abilities as the Doge of Malastare. He also possessed a talent for intimidation, which he employed in an attempt to persuade Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu to assist his people in eliminating the rampaging Zillo Beast.
Nakha Urus made his debut in "The Zillo Beast," the eighteenth episode of the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
