Nala Hetsime was a male pilot of Human descent, originating from Pa Tho. By the year of 3 ABY, he had become a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During that year, Hetsime found himself stationed at Echo Base on the planet known as Hoth. As a member of the Rebel Rogue Group, flying under the call sign Rogue Seven, he fought in the Battle of Hoth against the invading Imperial forces. Despite the battle ending in a loss for the Rebels, Hetsime managed to keep his snowspeeder undamaged throughout the conflict.

During the Galactic Civil War, Nala Hetsime, a Human male hailing from Pa Tho, served as a pilot within the ranks of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In 3 ABY, he was stationed at Echo Base, which was located on the planet of Hoth. Hetsime was an integral part of the base's pilot forces, which included Rogue Flight, along with Blue Squadron and Green Squadron. When the Galactic Empire discovered Echo Base, it triggered the Battle of Hoth, leading to the formation of Rogue Group from the three Rebel squadrons. Hetsime became a member of this group, operating under the call sign Rogue Seven, with Cinda Tarheel serving as his gunner.

Shortly following the Imperial invasion of Hoth, Hetsime attended a briefing with the other members of Rogue Group, conducted by Princess Leia Organa, who outlined the evacuation plans for Echo Base. The Alliance planned to have their various transports depart Hoth individually, under the protection of the base's v-150 Planet Defender and an escort of two starfighters, hoping this would allow the ships to evade the Imperial blockade in orbit around the planet. Hetsime participated in the defense of Echo Base against the invading Imperial Blizzard Force. Despite the battle resulting in a Rebel retreat from their base, Hetsime and Tarheel successfully navigated their snowspeeder through the conflict without being shot down.
Hetsime was a skilled pilot, capable of piloting any craft, whether traversing hyperspace or skimming a few meters above the surface of Hoth.
During his service as a Rebel pilot, Hetsime wore the standard Rebel flight suit along with a flight helmet and goggles.
Nala Hetsime's T-47 made its initial appearance in Star Wars Manga: The Empire Strikes Back 1 from 1999, which was an adaptation of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back from 1980. He was first given a name on a card for the Masters of the Force expansion set of Decipher's Jedi Knights Trading Card Game in 2001, although the character was not associated with any character from the film Empire Strikes Back. Hetsime's name is a named as anagram of "Alan Smithee", a pseudonym utilized by Hollywood directors. In 2013, the Rogues Gallery feature in Star Wars Insider 146 established Nala Hetsime as one of the additional Rogue Squadron pilots featured in The Empire Strikes Back.
