Nartissteu was a freighter of the New Republic that operated from the spaceport of Nellac Kram.
During the conflict in 9 ABY, the forces commanded by Grand Admiral Thrawn unlawfully seized the Nartissteu's identity. They utilized this stolen identity as a false name for an A-class bulk freighter belonging to Thrawn's fleet during the Battle of Sluis Van.
This fake Nartissteu arrived at the Sluis Van Shipyards ahead of the main Imperial fleet, displaying apparent damage and an ostensibly empty cargo bay. The ship communicated to Sluis Control that a pirate attack had forced them to jettison their entire cargo, and they were now awaiting repairs.
However, the freighter was actually carrying cloaked TIEs, and the supposed damage likely concealed its impending self-destruction.
Commander Wedge Antilles of Rogue Squadron, along with Captain Afyon aboard the New Republic vessel Larkhess, detected something suspicious about the ship, prompting Rogue Squadron to take off. The X-Wing pilots were the first to arrive as the Nartissteu detonated, which allowed the hidden TIE fighters to launch their surprise assault and thus initiate the Battle of Sluis Van.
