A group of Jawas, under the leadership of Chief Nebit, made their home in a sandcrawler on Tatooine. This planet was where they journeyed across the Dune Sea, scavenging for droids and technological items to trade. During the year 0 BBY, this particular group managed to seize the rebel droids C-3PO and R2-D2, subsequently selling them to Owen Lars who resided at the Lars moisture farm. Not long after this transaction, Imperial stormtroopers located the Jawa group while searching for the two droids, and proceeded to massacred every Jawa present.
