Nebit

Nebit, a male Jawa, held the position of chief within a tribe of Jawas originating from the planet of Tatooine. These Jawas traversed the deserts of Tatooine using a sandcrawler, seeking out abandoned droids or technologies for resale. In the year 0 BBY, Nebit and his fellow tribesmen made a stop at the Lars moisture farm, presenting a selection of droids for the Lars family to examine. Owen Lars chose C-3PO, a protocol droid, along with R5-D4, an astromech droid, from Nebit's available inventory; however, during their negotiations, R5-D4 experienced a motivator malfunction.

Following C-3PO's suggestion, Luke Skywalker, Lars' nephew, proposed the purchase of R2-D2, another astromech droid, which Nebit subsequently approved. Later on, the sandcrawler fell victim to an assault by Imperial stormtroopers who were in search of C-3PO and R2-D2. In the wake of the attack, most of Nebit's tribe met their demise, and as he died, Nebit divulged the location of the Lars Homestead to the Imperials. Skywalker, accompanied by the droids and Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi, later discovered the tribe's remains and cremated them.

Behind the scenes

Nebit made his initial appearance in the 1977 film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which is part of the original trilogy. Within the established canon, the Jawa's name was first revealed in the mobile card game Star Wars: Force Collection, which was first released in 2013. Despite the fact that the launch of Force Collection occurred before the Star Wars canon was reset in 2014, Leland Chee, a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, verified that the game was consistently updated to align with the canon.
