The Nhoras, a sentient species, had been engaged in a long-standing conflict with their close neighbors, the Clatear, dating back to approximately 580 BBY. Both civilizations inhabited a sector that may have been located in proximity to Cilpar. For five generations, Jedi had attempted, without success, to mediate and end their bitter feud.
Following the Imperial takeover of the Clatear, the Nhoras found themselves in a favorable position, benefiting from the Empire's neglect of both themselves and the Clatear. Regrettably for the Nhoras, the Clatear emerged from Imperial rule with a significantly strengthened military. During the turmoil of the Caamas Document crisis, and with the New Republic seemingly either unwilling or incapable of intervening in localized disputes, the Clatear-Nhoras conflict escalated once again. To balance the scales, the Nhoras enlisted the services of mercenaries, including the Dhashaan Shield, the former pirate Dharus, and potentially the Soskin Guard.
