These soldiers were members of the Nikardun species, fighting under the command of General Yiv the Benevolent throughout the Nikardun conquests. During the Chiss Ascendancy's Nikardun campaigns, pockets of the Nikardun military continued their resistance.
The initial depiction of Nikardun soldiers occurred in Timothy Zahn's 2020 novel, Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, which serves as the inaugural volume of The Ascendancy Trilogy.
