The Nishr Suppression refers to the actions taken by Imperial military forces to quell a revolt initiated by the indigenous Nish people living on the planet of Nishr. This occurred in the year 0 ABY.
In 2 BBY, an Imperial garrison was stationed on the planet. Their mission was to ensure the Empire's control over Nishr and to assist teams conducting mineral surveys. Major General Vin Kollis of the Imperial Army, known for his relative fairness, was assigned as both the military leader and Planetary Governor. Despite Kollis's intentions, the majority of his soldiers, who came from the occupying force on neighboring Mirshilan, behaved cruelly towards the Nish, disobeying Kollis's direct instructions.
The maltreatment of the Nish, which Kollis couldn't stop, sparked a local rebellion. The Nish, who only possessed rudimentary steam-powered technology, were swiftly and brutally defeated by the Imperials. Kollis, wanting to demonstrate the consequences of resistance, commanded his TIE/gt starfighters to bombard the Nish's three largest urban centers. Reinforcements were deployed, increasing the garrison's size to about a regimental force.
The Suppression was successful in intimidating most of the Nish into submission, preventing further resistance due to fear of Imperial retaliation. However, these events also drew the attention of the Rebel Alliance to Nishr, leading them to send a small SpecForce unit, which marked the start of the Nishr Campaign.
