Operation Lumberjack

Operation Lumberjack represents one of the smaller initiatives spearheaded by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, aimed at countering the escalating activities of the Alliance to Restore the Republic during 1 ABY. Following the Battle of Yavin within the broader context of the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance engaged in a struggle for dominance over various urban centers across the galaxy. During times when Imperial forces held control over cities such as Bestine, Coronet City, and Theed, Darth Vader would arrive in these three key locations aboard his shuttle, known as ST 321. Accompanied by a contingent of Triumphant-class dark troopers, the Sith Lord sought to bolster support for the Imperial cause and enlist individuals for perilous missions targeting the Rebellion. Vader successfully recruited a group of skilled spacers loyal to the Galactic Empire, tasking them with hunting down Rebel military personnel. Subsequently, these spacers traversed the galaxy, eliminating five section commanders, ten elite commandos, three corporals, two sergeants, and one officer within cities under Alliance control. The Imperial spacers, having demonstrated their effectiveness, were later reassigned to Operation Overlord.

Behind the scenes

Operation Lumberjack was featured as a quest within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. The quest was integrated into the game through "Publish 19," which was released on June 29, 2005.

During instances of Imperial occupation within the cities of Bestine, Coronet, or Theed, Darth Vader would periodically make an appearance in these locations. Vader presented players aligned with the Imperial faction with up to eight distinct quests, dividing them equally into "Combatant" quests (targeting Rebel non-player characters) and "Special Forces" quests (aimed at Rebel-aligned players). Operation Lumberjack held the position as the third of the four Imperial Combatant missions that players could obtain from Darth Vader.
