The Orange District, a subterranean section of Coruscant, gained its moniker from the pervasive orange illumination and towering residential complexes characteristic of this undercity area on the planet. This glow was due to the orange lights that illuminated the area, and the district was also known for its large population of criminals. The Galactic Senate attempted to substitute the distinctive orange lamps with standard glow lights, but the inhabitants consistently restored the original lighting, leading to the Senate's eventual acquiescence. Likewise, the Empire's endeavor to systematically search each apartment proved excessively demanding, even for the readily expendable Stormtroopers, prompting the Senate to rescind that directive. During Ferus Olin and Trever Flume's quest for Jedi, the Orange District provided refuge for the [Erased], until they (excluding Dexter Jettster) departed in pursuit of Solace. From that point forward, the Orange District continued to be marked by orange lanterns and rebels.
