Order of the Silver Jedi

The Order of the Silver Jedi represented a specialized division within the broader Jedi Order, exclusively focused on confronting manifestations of the dark side of the Force and upholding the principles of "Service and Protection" for the Galactic Republic. Surpassing even the conventional Jedi in their dedication, the Silver Jedi prioritized the complete annihilation of all dark side influences from the galaxy. Despite their militaristic nature, the order also fostered prominent Jedi philosophers and theorists within its ranks. Their emblem featured a downward-pointing silver crescent, accompanied by a pair of crossed, activated lightsabers positioned beneath the crescent's handles.

Engaged in constant conflict with dark side entities, they observed the ability of dark side users to amplify their power through the dark side. Consequently, they embarked on experimental endeavors to enhance their own connection with the light side. With noble intentions, they manipulated the intrinsic bond shared by all beings with the Force. While some achieved limited success, experiencing heightened abilities and increased potency, the Order remained unsatisfied. Driven by a desire for a definitive victory over the dark side, they stumbled upon what they perceived as a foolproof, albeit perilous, method for fully opening oneself to the Force's power.

Tel Angor, the most esteemed Jedi Knight within the Order at that time, a seasoned and committed warrior, eagerly volunteered for the experiment. He received instructions to dedicate at least a month to preparation, involving meditation, fasting, and focused concentration on his Force connection, anticipating a complete merging with it. Both the Order and Angor himself anticipated his transformation into a living embodiment of the light side, a radiant symbol of righteousness and justice.

Tragically for Angor, and indeed the galaxy, the experiment yielded disastrous results. Instead of harnessing the Force to augment his capabilities, Angor succumbed entirely to the dark side's corruption, transforming into the Force Vampire, an entity that depended on the Force for sustenance. Upon his emergence, the Vampire's initial act involved consuming the Silver Jedi who had facilitated the experiment, followed by the destruction of all related notes and computer files. From that moment forward, the Vampire relentlessly targeted any vestige of the Order of the Silver Jedi.

Upon discovering the grim outcome, the remaining members of the Order launched a relentless pursuit of the Vampire. Regrettably, their investigations consistently led them to scenes of carnage. Eventually, shortly before the onset of the Clone Wars, a team of seven Silver Jedi successfully located and captured the Vampire after an intense battle. They subsequently imprisoned him aboard an Outrider-class cruiser, accompanying the vessel on an automated, perpetual journey through hyperspace. Their intention was to serve as the Vampire's custodians, maintaining his confinement until a means of restoring Angor could be discovered.

However, not long into the voyage, a critical lapse in judgment by one of the Jedi enabled the Vampire to escape. The Vampire swiftly proceeded to feed upon and murder any individuals he encountered on board. With only one Silver Jedi remaining, a Knight named Bar Oplut, he heroically sabotaged both the hyperdrive and sublight drives to prevent the Vampire's escape, before succumbing in the inevitable final confrontation.

By the era of the New Republic, the Order of the Silver Jedi's last remaining bastion on the planet Coruscul lay abandoned. Upon the Vampire's eventual liberation by a New Republic patrol vessel, he attempted to reach this final stronghold with the intent of destroying it as well, but was thwarted before reaching his destination. This base housed the final journal detailing the experiments and their consequences, which had transformed Tel Angor into the monster he had become. The journal concluded with a remorseful note: "We never should have tried."
