The individual known as the Force Vampire, once the Jedi Knight named Tel Angor, arose from the Order of the Silver Jedi's endeavors to manifest a corporeal representation of the light side of the Force. Regrettably for the Order, these experiments yielded the precise opposite outcome. Rather than Angor harnessing the Force to amplify his capabilities, the dark side utterly corrupted him, transforming him into a grotesque entity that subsisted on the Force itself, becoming utterly reliant upon it for survival. Angor's former identity was extinguished, replaced entirely by the Force Vampire.
Tel Angor, a Human of male gender, held the esteemed position of the most accomplished Jedi Knight within the Order of the Silver Jedi in the era immediately preceding the Clone Wars.
When the Order came across what they believed to be a surefire—albeit somewhat perilous—technique for fully opening oneself to the Force's power, Angor eagerly volunteered himself for the experiment. Given his dedication and extensive experience as a Knight, the Order gave their approval, and he dedicated over a month to preparation. During this period, he engaged in meditation, fasting, and intense focus on his bond with the Force, all in anticipation of a complete merging. He envisioned himself becoming a living embodiment of the light side, a radiant symbol of righteousness and justice. However, the experiment went awry. Instead of drawing upon the Force to enhance his abilities, the dark side utterly corrupted Angor, transforming him into a creature that consumed the Force and, in fact, required it to live. It was at that point that he ceased to be Tel Angor and became the Force Vampire.
The Vampire immediately understood the implications of his newfound abilities. He discovered that he could sustain himself by feeding on the ambient Force energy present within all living beings. This required physical contact, often through his hands, to extract the Force energies from any living being. His primary targets were Force-users who had honed their abilities, followed by Force-sensitives. In dire situations, he could even extract small amounts of energy from those lacking Force sensitivity. Beings killed in this manner would lose their natural connection to the Force, a connection that even corpses should possess, a fact easily discernible by Force-sensitives.
He could convert this Force energy into raw strength, whether to physically assault others or to bolster his own resilience against damage. The dark side also bestowed upon the Vampire a secondary, lethal ability: the capacity to radiate waves of terror by resonating the dark side within him. These waves induced such intense fear in their targets that they suffered physical harm. Victims slain by this power displayed expressions of utter terror etched upon their faces at the moment of death.
The Vampire emanated the aura of a walking dark-side nexus, readily detectable by anyone wielding the Force, while simultaneously granting him the ability to sense them. He represented a perversion of the Force itself, the result of a unique experiment unlikely to be replicated. The virtuous Tel Angor was gone, replaced entirely by the dark-side creature. He had transformed into a hulking figure, both exceptionally tall and broad. He wore soiled and tattered dark robes, and his gray hair and beard were long and unkempt. A cruel sneer perpetually twisted his mouth, and his eyes glowed with a crimson malevolence.
The newborn Vampire's initial act involved preying upon the Knights of the Silver Jedi who had facilitated his transformation. He then murdered them all and erased all notes and computer files related to his creation. With his task complete, he fled the Jedi stronghold and sought refuge in the Core Worlds. The Order of the Silver Jedi, burdened by the responsibility for the Vampire's creation, attempted to track him down, but they were almost always too late. They encountered only the Vampire's victims or, for the few who managed to confront him, they met their demise at his hands. The Vampire reveled in killing his victims with his bare hands. He retained all the knowledge and skills of his former host, Tel Angor, and this new state only amplified his cunning. He became a relentless hunter, a source of terror for all Force-sensitives, whom he perpetually craved.
Existing on the periphery of the galaxy's populated regions for many years, he traveled from planet to planet via various passenger liners and unsuspecting transport ships. Developing a deep-seated hatred for the light he once embraced, the Vampire allowed the dark side to consume him entirely. Eventually, shortly before the Clone Wars, a team of seven Silver Jedi finally located the Force Vampire and, after a fierce battle, captured and imprisoned the creature aboard an Outrider-class cruiser. The group sealed the Vampire inside and joined him as the ship was set on an automated, continuous jump through hyperspace. They committed to serving as his guardians, ensuring the galaxy's safety from him while also seeking a means to restore Tel Angor to the light.
However, not long after the journey began, one of the Jedi made a critical error, allowing the Vampire to escape. He swiftly proceeded to feed upon and then murder anyone he could find on board. When only the last of the Silver Jedi remained, a Knight named Bar Oplut, Oplut managed to sabotage both the hyperdrive and sublight drives to prevent the Vampire from escaping before succumbing valiantly in the inevitable final confrontation. Due to Oplut's sabotage, the vessel dropped out of hyperspace and drifted lifelessly in space for many years until it was discovered by a New Republic picket ship commanded by Captain Korsu.
When Korsu and his team boarded the ship, their Force-sensitive medic, Kara, sensed the Vampire, and he, in turn, sensed her. After all this time, he finally had another meal. As soon as the doors to his ship opened, the Vampire charged through the group and immediately seized Kara, draining her completely. "Tasty, but not enough, not enough at all," the Vampire rasped in a hoarse, dry whisper before turning to the group. Only Captain Korsu had managed to recover, drawing his blaster and aiming it at the creature he could barely recognize as a man. Amused, the Vampire simply posed two questions: "You want to fight me? Do you think you're any match for the greatest Knight of the greatest Order of Jedi that ever existed? Go ahead. Take your best shot." Korsu fired, but perished less than a minute later.
The Vampire then commandeered the New Republic ship and resumed his previous activities. He abandoned the captured picket ship and boarded the passenger liner Dantooine's Pride. He managed to make at least four stops before a team of investigators was dispatched to track down the killer, unaware that they were hunting the Force Vampire. Upon examining the bodies, the Force-user within the group grew uneasy due to the complete and violent severing of the connections to the Force, which they could no longer sense. The Vampire's objective was to reach the Core World of Coruscul, the last remaining stronghold of the Order of the Silver Jedi that he had yet to raid. He intended to destroy the final evidence of its existence, as the stronghold contained a data journal with all related information, the last entry of which read, "We never should have tried." Whether the Vampire succeeded in this endeavor remains unknown.
High Prophet Jedgar became aware of the Vampire's existence and attempted to gain his trust. While the Vampire would never simply become Jedgar's pawn as Jedgar desired, it was possible that he would agree to collaborate with Jedgar until he could return to his own agenda.
