Jedgar

Jedgar, a youngling of the Jedi Order, ultimately aligned himself with the Dark Jedi Kadann and rose to become a Prophet of the Dark Side.

Biography

His life began within the walls of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as a Jedi youngling. While residing there, he was disturbed by recurring dark visions that possessed an unsettling tendency to materialize. He experienced vivid nightmares concerning the Clone Wars and the Great Jedi Purge well in advance of their occurrence. Despite showcasing a remarkable aptitude for precognition, Jedgar instilled fear in his fellow students, and he failed to secure a Jedi Knight or Master willing to take him on as a Padawan and provide him with instruction. Upon reaching his thirteenth birthday in 23 BBY, he faced assignment to the Agricultural Corps. However, he vehemently rejected this humble role and permanently abandoned the Jedi Order, choosing instead to pursue his aspirations related to the dark side of the Force.

Years later, Jedgar's visions continued to guide him until they led him to Kadann, a Dark Jedi who had previously been a Jedi Knight and had departed from the Order for his own reasons. Their initial exchange was succinct: "I foresaw this meeting," Kadann declared. Jedgar responded, "So did I." From that moment forward, Kadann assumed the role of master, with Jedgar as his apprentice. While his primary function involved aiding Kadann in deciphering the flow of the future through his ominous insights, he also served as the diminutive Dark Jedi's bodyguard. The latter role was largely symbolic, as Kadann possessed ample capacity to defend himself against any potential threats.

When Darth Sidious bestowed upon Kadann the title of Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, Jedgar remained by his side and received the title of High Prophet, effectively becoming the second-in-command of the prophetic order. During the zenith of the Galactic Empire's power, Kadann and Jedgar jointly led the Prophets of the Dark Side in offering counsel to the Emperor through their prophecies and predictions. Their situation remained favorable until Kadann perceived a future that aligned with Sidious's own vision: that Luke Skywalker would ultimately defeat him, leading to the Empire's downfall. Despite this revelation, Kadann retained his position as their leader and the most formidable among them, inspiring their trust in his visions. Many of the Prophets, including Jedgar, concurred with his decision to retreat into seclusion on the planet Bosthirda. From their concealed temple, they observed the Emperor's defeat and the Empire's subsequent destruction, which restored balance to the Force, precisely as Kadann had foretold.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, Imperial Intelligence established a group of impostor Prophets, which included a false Jedgar who also claimed the title of High Prophet. The genuine Jedgar detected these deceptions and falsehoods through his dark visions. However, Kadann forbade him from leaving Bosthirda to address the situation. Kadann simply stated, "Let them pretend; their false prophecies will not come to pass, and the time is not yet ripe for the true Prophets to reveal themselves." This restriction did not entirely deter Jedgar, as he would often disguise himself as a wandering malevolent Jedi, imparting training to any Force-sensitive individuals he encountered and attempting to sway them toward the alluring, effortless path of the dark side. Those who declined his teachings became obstacles that he deemed necessary to eliminate. However, he did not always act immediately, often appearing at the most inopportune moment to exact his vengeance.

Around the same time that the false Kadann proclaimed himself to be the Emperor, Jedgar was deeply involved in one of his schemes. His plan involved infiltrating a New Republic base by orchestrating a scenario in which a group of Imperial agents working under his command would pursue him into the arms of a Republic unit. Subsequently, he would cultivate their trust, leading them to disclose the location of the Republic base. Once he had ascertained the base's location and gathered substantial intelligence, he intended to depart and return with sufficient forces to either capture or obliterate the base and its occupants. The sole purpose of this elaborate scheme was to acquire Force-sensitive individuals for training. The success of this plan remains uncertain. Jedgar met his demise, either through the vengeance of Azrakel when he returned to eliminate the prophets, or at the hands of Carnor Jax and Lumiya, who arrived shortly after Azrakel's death to complete his mission.

Personality

Among all the Prophets, Jedgar possessed the greatest ambition and an insatiable desire for power. Unlike the Supreme Prophet Kadann, he was unwilling to passively await the acquisition of this power; he sought it immediately. He embodied the archetype of a Dark Jedi, prepared to employ any method or strategy that brought him closer to his objective, regardless of the potential consequences. He harbored resentment toward Kadann's superior power but resigned himself to the fact that he could not openly challenge the Supreme Prophet.

Jedgar exhibited arrogance, cruelty, and impatience, often acting prematurely against his adversaries when a more prudent approach would have involved careful observation and analysis. This tendency led to numerous errors that proved costly over the years. When victory seemed within reach, he would impulsively seize it before all his plans had fully unfolded, frequently resulting in further setbacks.

He reveled in his dark side abilities and readily employed them. His preferred tactic involved creating entire legions of Force Wraiths and unleashing them upon his enemies, although he was equally willing to draw his lightsaber and engage in direct combat when the opportunity arose.

Physical appearance

Jedgar was characterized by his exceptional height and slender build, a bald head, a bearded chin, and hooded eyes. As with all other Prophets of the Dark Side, he donned the traditional star-covered robes that appeared to be woven from the fabric of deep space. His sole physical weapon was his lightsaber, which he carried at all times and used without hesitation. It was distinguished by its sickly glowing green blade and an electronic hum reminiscent of a swarm of enraged rage-stingers. He was also known to keep hssiss nearby to mask his presence in the Force.
