Orinackra, a penal planet, existed within the Wild Space region of the galaxy.
The surface of Orinackra was a desolate and unproductive land, characterized mainly by expansive stone valleys. This geological formation made the world ideal for incarceration, as these valleys formed complicated, maze-like structures with numerous cul-de-sacs.
A shuttle carrier station was constructed on a rocky projection, offering a route to the entrance of the Imperial Detention Center. A valley suitable for ship landings was situated nearby.
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire operated the Imperial Detention Center on Orinackra. While not as well-known, Orinackra was often compared to more infamous prisons such as Kessel and Oovo IV. Crix Madine, an Imperial officer who attempted to defect to the Rebel Alliance during the Dark Trooper crisis, was apprehended on the Arc Hammer for divulging critical information to the rebels. He was imprisoned at the facility to await his execution.
Because the information provided by Madine was crucial to the Alliance, the Moldy Crow was dispatched to Orinackra, where agent Kyle Katarn bravely rescued him.
Orinackra's initial appearance was in the video game Star Wars: Dark Forces. A complete level within the game was set on this planet, although the player only briefly explored the planetary surface, as the majority of the level's action occurred within the Imperial detention facility.
