The Outcast served as the personal starship of Fennec Shand, a bounty hunter, during the initial years of the Imperial Era. Shand, as its owner, customized the Outcast to meet her specific needs. The vessel not only accommodated all of her necessary equipment but also included a cargo area designed for holding captured bounties.
Following a lead from a contact indicating that Omega, a young individual she was contracted to capture, was located on the moon of Pantora, Shand journeyed there aboard her ship. Subsequently, after reaching an agreement with Hunter and Wrecker from Clone Force 99, she transported the disobedient clones on the Outcast to the planet Veelo for a job that involved tracking down Sylar Saris.
