OWO-1, an OOM command battle droid, served on the Saak'ak in 32 BBY during the Invasion of Naboo. Nute Gunray, the Viceroy of the Trade Federation, dispatched it to verify the deaths of Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, by dioxis gas. Accompanied by a team of OOM-series security droids, the commander droid entered the gas-filled chamber, only to discover the gas's failure. Shortly thereafter, the Jedi eliminated the droid and its squad.
The script for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace originally included the designation OWO-1. This name was subsequently used in William Shakespeare's The Phantom of Menace: Star Wars Part the First, a non-canon retelling.
