OOM-series security droids, also referenced as security battle droids, Specialist Droids, or B1 security droids, were a specific model within the OOM-series line. They were a type of security droid constructed by Baktoid Combat Automata for use in the Trade Federation Droid Army, and later, the Separatist Droid Army. The presence of red markings on their chassis distinguished them from other droids.
During the Invasion of Naboo, security droids were stationed on the Saak'ak and were deployed to the planet of Naboo. However, the Federation's efforts were thwarted by the destruction of the Droid Control Ship, the Vuutun Palaa. Subsequently, during the Clone Wars, these battle droids were utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems in various locations such as starships and the Citadel prison. Towards the conclusion of the war, Darth Vader traveled to Mustafar with instructions to eliminate the Separatist Council. This resulted in the destruction of the OOM-series security droids stationed there and the subsequent deactivation of the Droid Army under the orders of Darth Sidious.

OOM-series security droids, manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata, represented a specific type of security droid and were part of the OOM mark of the B1-series. Consequently, the OOM security droid was also referred to as the B1 security droid. Their function as security units was visually indicated by their red coloration. These droids could be armed with an E-5 blaster rifle and, in some cases, a comlink booster pack.
These droids were programmed with combat subroutines and sensor capabilities. A standard B1 could be easily modified into a security unit by adjusting its core programming. While some were deployed as marksmen using E-5s sniper rifles, security battle droids were primarily utilized in security roles, such as acting as sentries and guards for locations, individuals, or valuable assets. They were also used for crowd control. Despite the strain it placed on their logic module, necessitating regular memory wipes to prevent paranoia, the droid model was designed to constantly scan its surroundings for anomalies.

At one point in their operational history, a security droid was accidentally destroyed by friendly fire. During the Invasion of Naboo, a group of security battle droids, including a security droid holding the rank of corporal, under the command of an OOM command battle droid, were tasked by Nute Gunray, the Viceroy of the Trade Federation, with eliminating two Jedi ambassadors aboard the Saak'ak. These Jedi, Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, had been dispatched by Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum to mediate the bloackade of Naboo by the Trade Federation. However, the security droids were ultimately destroyed by the Jedi pair. Another group was dispatched by Gunray to escort Queen Padmé Amidala, Captain Panaka, and others to Camp Four, only to be ambushed and destroyed by the same Jedi. The remaining security battle droids on Naboo were likely deactivated following the destruction of the Droid Control Ship, the Vuutun Palaa.

During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems employed these droids within its Droid Army. On the battlefield, security droids were deployed alongside regular infantry units and served as immediate guards for newly captured territories. However, they were not as effective in direct combat as their standard infantry counterparts. They continued to function as security forces and guards. Numerous security battle droids were stationed at the Citadel prison on Lola Sayu. One security battle droid was under the direct command of General Grievous before the Battle of Dathomir, reporting the approach of Separatist starships to Dathomir, after which Grievous ordered the landing of troops. Many security battle droids also participated in the Carida incident, involving the transformation of the Venator-class Star Destroyer Renown into a bomb, an event thwarted by D-Squad. BD-15959 was another security battle droid involved in the mission to Utapau.
In the final year of the Clone Wars, when General Grievous attacked the Galactic Republic's headquarters on Coruscant and captured Sheev Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a renowned Jedi Master, and Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice and a Jedi Knight, were dispatched to rescue him. A large contingent of security battle droids in the hangar bay attacked the Jedi aboard Grievous's flagship, the Invisible Hand, but were all destroyed. During the Jedi's retreat from droidekas into a lift, they discovered several security battle droids in the same lift and eliminated them. Shortly after, a group of security droids escorted the Jedi to the bridge, only to be destroyed when Skywalker and Kenobi freed themselves.

Several security battle droids were also deployed during the Battle of Utapau aboard a core ship repurposed as a land base. A number of security battle droids also participated on the front lines of the Battle of Kashyyyk, riding into battle on NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcers. The Confederate forces were opposed by the 41st Scout Battalion and the indigenous Wookiees. Elsewhere in the galaxy, security droids escorted the Separatist Council to the volcanic planet Mustafar, but the entire guard force, along with the Separatist leaders and aides, was eliminated when Darth Vader arrived. Following the massacre of the Separatist leaders, Vader issued an order to deactivate all droid units across the galaxy.
OOM-series security droids made their debut appearance in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. In Star Wars Battlefront II, they are featured as the specialist class for the Separatist faction.
