Army

The Stormtroopers functioned as elements within the Imperial Army structure. A dedicated faction of soldiers and troops united by a shared goal constituted an army. Throughout galactic history, prominent armies have included the Gungan Grand Army, in addition to the Trade Federation Droid Army, the Grand Army of the Republic, the Separatist Droid Army, the Imperial Army, the Alliance Army, the New Republic army, the First Order Army, the Resistance Army, as well as the Sith Eternal army.

To successfully take over a planet, an invasion army could be assembled, using landing craft for surface deployment. Coruscant, an ecumenopolis, possessed a modest army consisting of repair droids, INS-444s, and even CLE-004 window cleaning droids, all dedicated to maintaining the city's skyscrapers.
