In comparison to other alien vessel designs encountered by the Chiss Ascendancy, the heavy frigate's configuration was deemed unconventional, yet it aligned with the Paataatus tactic of initially engaging enemies with laser fire before tilting upwards to unleash missiles.
A lone heavy frigate found itself encircled by six enhanced cruisers. Five of these cruisers were operated by Paataatus crews, while the sixth was commandeered by a surviving faction of the Nikardun Destiny, who used it to hold the other cruisers as hostages.
