Pablo Helman contributed as a digital effects artist at ILM for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and took on the role of visual effects supervisor for Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Furthermore, in Attack of the Clones, he portrayed Pablo-Jill and offered insights through DVD commentaries for both cinematic productions.
Helman was also the visual effects supervisor for the movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on July 5th, 1959, he holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Cal Poly Pomona and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition from UCLA. Helman began his tenure at Industrial Light & Magic in 1996, initially as a Sabre Department Supervisor. He received an Academy Award recognizing Best Visual Effects for his contributions to War of The Worlds.
The name Pablo-Jill is a tribute to Helman himself. According to Helman's commentary on the Attack of The Clones DVD, the bronzium busts displayed within the Jedi Archives feature representations of himself, George Lucas, Rob Coleman, and John Knoll.
