A locket, a keepsake once owned by Padmé Amidala, was gifted to her handmaiden, Sabé, during the Invasion of Naboo which occurred in 32 BBY. Though a youthful act, the sentiment behind the gesture was sincere. Following the Battle of Naboo, Sabé tried to return the necklace to Amidala, as she'd been told to do, but Amidala had a change of heart. She instructed Sabé to retain it as a token of gratitude for her service to a planet that would likely never grasp the full extent of her contributions.
Following Padmé Amidala's funeral in 19 BBY, Sabé, accompanied by Tonra, resolved to journey to Coruscant to delve into the circumstances surrounding Amidala's death. To accomplish this, they required new identities and had to relinquish any markers of their Naboo origin. This included the locket, which Sabé opted to secure in a safe location, intending to retrieve it later.
A comparable object appeared in Star Wars Legends. In Julianne Balmain's novel, The Queen's Amulet, Padmé is depicted giving Sabé an amulet not long before the Invasion of Naboo.
