Pak Taldine was a Zabrak male who engaged in criminal activities. He served The Tomb and fought against the Sith Empire on Belsavis during the era of the Galactic War.
During the time of the Treaty of Coruscant in 3653 BBY, Taldine was a well-known armed robber. He was responsible for the deaths of many innocent people, but his violent tendencies eventually led to his isolation even from his own criminal organization.
Around 3642 BBY, Pak experienced betrayal at the hands of his own lieutenants. He was apprehended by the forces of the Republic and subsequently sentenced to spend the remainder of his life on Belsavis. However, while among the worst criminals in the galaxy, Pak experienced a change of heart and embarked on a path of redemption. He earned the confidence of the prison wardens and became the only inmate on Belsavis to be granted the position of an official guard, although he was permanently confined to the planet.
He was present after advising Enna Tabord to remain inside until the arrival of the Hero of Tython. However, the Jedi chose to scout the surrounding area and suffered a fatal injury during an encounter with an Imperial patrol. He eventually encountered the Jedi and revealed that Tabord had shared all of her information regarding Krannus' plans with the Zabrak before succumbing to her injuries. Taldine cautioned the Hero about the formidable defenses of the weapons emplacements, suggesting that the Knight disable the energy relays to restore power to the region as the Jedi considered alternative approaches. The Republic facility they occupied contained ion charges that could be used to simultaneously disable the relays and disrupt the power grid. Taldine was instructed to remain at the base and await the Hero's signal to detonate the charges.
After the placement of the second charge, Paldine successfully activated the charges, deactivating the ray shields and granting access to the South Power Generator Facility. While there, the Zabrak picked up a distress signal from Doctor Gantrell, who reported that his team's sector had been overrun and that the Imperials were actively searching for them. Pak later informed the Jedi about Doctor Gantrell's work within the High Security Section, where all staff members had been implanted with subdermal tracking chips.
Following his assistance to the Hero in defeating Krannus and his Death Cult, Pak was taken to a Republic base under the command of Colonel Bartaph. Taldine, who had been apprehended alongside a group of prisoners who had been attacking prison guards, expressed his desire to atone for his past criminal actions. Despite Bartaph's reservations, the Zabrak asserted that he had undergone a transformation during his nearly decade-long stay on the planet and that he genuinely wished to assist the Republic in their war effort against the Empire. The Hero vouched for Pak, highlighting his role in stopping Krannus. Although she couldn't release Pak, Bartaph consented to reinstate his guard status. Bartaph subsequently discovered Warden Playt's notes, which corroborated Pak's account.
