Palazzo Reina

The Palazzo Reina, a palace situated on the planet Grizmallt, was constructed during the time that Queen Elsinoré den Tasia ruled, a period that spanned from 3950 BBY to around 3900 BBY. Embellished with the Royal Script of Grizmallt, the Palazzo featured a specific chamber known as the Heroine Hall.

Sometime between 21 BBY and 18 BBY, Queen Apailana from the planet Naboo paid a formal visit to Grizmallt. During this visit, she, along with Senator Jar Jar Binks, toured the Palazzo Reina. Because the Gungan senator was familiar with Futhark, the Naboo writing system derived from the Royal Script of Grizmallt, he famously misinterpreted the Heroine Hall's name as "Hero in Hell." This event is documented in "The Written Word: A Brief Introduction to the Writing Systems of Galactic Basic" by Doctor Milanda Vorgan.

Behind the scenes

John Hazlett mentioned the Palazzo Reina in his in-universe article, "The Written Word." The article was published on Hyperspace, a subscription service on StarWars.com, on March 5, 2010. Hazlett's naming of the Palazzo was inspired by a backstory created by Jason Fry for the never-published reference book The Essential Guide to Episode I. Fry had intended to establish that Queen Tasia had founded multiple colonies throughout the galaxy, incorporating Spanish influences in their naming as an Easter egg. Consequently, Hazlett indicated that "Palazzo Reina" could be interpreted as "Queen's Palace."
