The Pesmenben system existed within the Teraab sector, which itself was situated in the Slice region of the Mid Rim. Pesmenben IV, a planet, occupied the fourth orbital position in this system. By the year 0 BBY, Lando Calrissian, a Human entrepreneur, successfully deceived the Imperial governor of Pesmenben IV into an agreement to lease the planet through a scheme involving lithium.
The system of Pesmenben initially appeared in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a source article for a roleplaying game from 1990, featured in issue thirteen of the magazine Voyages SF. This article positioned the system within the Trebela sector. However, because the magazine's publication occurred outside the official Lucas Licensing channels, the canonicity of this placement within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never officially confirmed. Later, in 2009, the reference work The Essential Atlas located it in grid square Q-11, and its StarWars.com Online Companion superseded the Voyages SF location by establishing the Pesmenben system's place within the Teraab sector.
