Petulia

Petulia, residing at California's Marineland zoo, was a walrus. The sounds she made were utilized by Ben Burtt as a foundation for the voice of Chewbacca, in conjunction with the vocalizations of the bears Pooh and Tarik.

An article titled "Drawing from the Present: Familiar Creatures in a Galaxy Far, Far Away" on StarWars.com, authored by Tim Veekhoven and Mark Newbold, indicates that the voice of Ponda Baba was inspired by a walrus, though the authors were uncertain whether Petulia provided the actual vocalizations.
