Small, flightless birds called pharples originated on the desert world of Lok. These creatures, known for their timidity and insect-based diet, rarely posed a threat to sentient life. Different types of pharples existed, such as giant pharples and runty pharples. In the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Sulfur Lake Pirates domesticated a giant pharple, which they mockingly named Nym's Girlfriend, to belittle their adversary Nym. This animal eventually met its end within the Sulfur Lake Pirate Hideout, slain by a spacer employed by Grenz Zittoun of the Lok Revenants.
