A pharple of the female gender, originating from the planet Lok, lived during the era of the Galactic Civil War. This creature was given the name "Nym's Girlfriend" by the Sulfur Lake Pirates, a rival group to Nym's own Lok Revenants. Following the Battle of Yavin, the Sulfur Lake Pirates captured this flightless bird and kept it at their hideout on Lok, having tamed it. The pirates' intent in naming the animal after their enemy was to shame Nym. Consequently, Grenz Zittoun, a subordinate of Nym, hired a spacer to kill the creature, as it was a source of embarrassment. In 1 ABY, the Lok Revenants launched an attack on the Sulfur Lake Pirate Hideout with the goal of recovering the memory module from an Imperial droid. During this raid, a spacer eliminated the pharple, thereby ending its role as a symbol of ridicule.
Nym's Girlfriend made an appearance in Star Wars Galaxies, a video game from 2003 that was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. Sony Online Entertainment developed it, and LucasArts published it, before its servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. The character was incorporated into the game as a component of the revamped "Nym's Theme Park," which was launched alongside "Game Update 16," on March 23, 2010.
