A lieutenant from the Coruscant Security Force is seen here in their complete uniform.
The established hierarchy of commanding authority among the various police officers within a law enforcement agency was known as police rank. In numerous instances, these ranks bore similarities to those found in military ranks.
With successful performance and graduation, officers in CorSec could achieve promotions to ranks such as Master Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major. The Director was the head of CorSec. Officers also had the option of becoming CorSec Inspectors if they preferred purely investigative work. During the Galactic Empire's reign, an Imperial Liaison officer oversaw the organization.
During the era of the Galactic Republic, CSF police officers sometimes went by the designation of Republic Peace Officers. Regarding rank structure, the lowest ranks were Officer or Constable, followed by Sergeant, Detective, Chief of Detectives, Lieutenant, and then Captain. The CSF Senior Command was in charge of the CSF, and during a brief period under the Galactic Empire, a Moff held leadership. Additional titles included Incident commander and Scenes of Crimes Officer.
Despite the Senate Guard of the Galactic Republic being structured similarly to a military organization, its duties primarily involved protection and policing. The Captain of the Guard was the leader of the Senate Guard. The Sergeant at Arms held responsibility for security within the Grand Convocation Chamber. Below them were Captains, followed by Commanders who oversaw small units of 6 to 10 Guards, then Lieutenants, and finally Privates.
