The Poltur Virus was a necrotizing virus, incurable at the time, which was transmitted by the urnsor'is species native to Kashyyyk. The urnsor'is utilized venomous sacs as a delivery system, injecting the virus directly into their prey.
Within the Myyydril Caverns, Wookiees belonging to the Myyydril tribe faced the encroaching urnsor'is; many succumbed to the virus, or resorted to amputation of the affected limbs, replacing them with cybernetics. An example of this is Kivvaaa, who suffered the loss of her arm due to infection by the Poltur Virus.
The Poltur Virus was featured in the Star Wars Galaxies video game, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011.
