"Prey" originally appeared in Star Wars Tales 11 as a comic, and it was later included in the compilation Star Wars Tales Volume 3. Kia Asamiya is the author of the narrative, Dave Stewart handled the coloring, and Steve Dutro was responsible for the lettering.
After Han Solo deserted from the Imperial Army, Wilhuff Tarkin commissions Boba Fett to capture him. Darth Vader opposes the choice to employ the bounty hunter, so Tarkin challenges Vader to demonstrate his dominance by undertaking the mission himself. Both Vader and Fett pursue Solo, eventually converging at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. A conflict erupts between them over Solo, during which Fett brandishes a lightsaber, seemingly acquired from a deceased Jedi. Amidst their ongoing struggle, Han Solo seizes the opportunity to escape the conflict, departing the planet aboard a short-range spacecraft. Solo manages to evade the Galactic Empire by affixing his ship to a Star Destroyer and drifting away with the ejected refuse.
