Q2 hold-out blaster

The Q2 hold-out blaster pistol represented a type of blaster produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. during the Galactic Republic era. Its design drew inspiration from the ELG line of Diplomat's Blasters by the SoroSuub Corporation, a line that also featured the ELG-3A blaster pistol.

Description

Q2 hold-out blaster pistol

The Q2 hold-out blaster, compact enough to be concealed within a Human's hand, was often favored by covert operatives and individuals seeking a discreet weapon. Its diminutive size led to its prohibition in numerous systems, while others imposed strict regulations on its use. In certain star systems, it was regarded as a "self-defense" option in contrast to more potent personal blasters.

Remarkably, the Q2's height exceeded its length, measuring only 9.6 cm long and 10.3 cm high, extending from the base of the handle to the top of the receiver. It necessitated a specialized power pack, available for purchase from authorized Merr-Sonn dealers at a cost of twenty credits. This power source provided sufficient energy for six shots. Unlike most handheld blasters, the Q2 discharged green blaster bolts, similar to the S-5 heavy blaster pistol.

History

Queen Padmé Amidala and her cadre of handmaidens underwent training to achieve proficiency with these weapons. Given the belief that the Queen should possess a final means of defense in the event of an assault, a stash of these blasters was concealed within a secret compartment located in the armrest of her throne. During an attack by bounty hunters Chata Hyoki and Robonino, Senator Padmé Amidala's attempt to subdue them with a Q2 proved unsuccessful.

Later, the smuggler Dash Rendar employed it as a last-ditch effort to defend holostar Javul Charn from an assault by the Anomid assassin, Edge. During the Galactic Civil War, the Valarian criminal syndicate procured a supply of Q2 blasters. Lady Valarian's second-in-command Ind furnished new recruits with this particular weapon.
