QT-9 was an experimental therapy droid provided to Dade Hetkins, a one-time Rebel soldier, following his release from a New Republic veterans' medical facility located in Darropolis on the planet of Hosnian Prime. This droid stood roughly at knee height, and it featured a pair of visual sensors. Its design incorporated a head that was somewhat square, and it moved around using a spherical body colored blue and gold.
When Dade voiced his disapproval of being assigned a "therapy droid," Doctor Arsad suggested an alternative: prescribing a "therapy Ewok." Following this proposition, Dade agreed to accept QT-9 as a companion.
